Although graceful and beautiful, the lionfish is not a native of the Bahamas or the Caribbean. They have arrived from the Pacific on these reefs from collectors and aquarists. And without meaningful competition, they have thrived. Today they are almost ubiquitous. We saw them on every dive and as many as six on a single dive. And those elegant fins pack a poisonous punch. |
