A young queen angelfish faces off with the diver at Hammerhead Gulch reef. The vibrant, almost unnatural colors, of this angelfish make you wonder what nature's purpose might be for this beautiful fish. I think there were more queen angels on these reefs than any place else I've dived. They tend to stay just out of range of a decent picture for me. But this relative close up gives you the opportunity to see the magic of its chromataphores (active color cells) up close. |
