This cute little guy is the Whitecheeked surgeonfish. Surgeonfish are so named because of a clever little adaptation of the caudal or tail fin. You'll notice a small horizontal line at the base of the tail. That is a sharp ray that can be extended to cut and slash as the fish attempts to elude its preditors.
