Bullseye Pufferfish

At tiny Islote Mosquera we came across this interesting pufferfish emerging from the sand early in the morning. The bullseye puffer will burrow into the sand for protection when it sleeps during the night.

We were eager to do as much diving as possible so it was common for us to be under water before seven a.m. most days. That gave us the chance to see unusual behaviors like this.
