Now, there's a opossom's grin! Alhtough these guys look a little threatening, laying head-cocked-up from the sand and bearing dozens of dagger-like teeth, their characteristics are evolved to position the sand diver to quickly capture prey passing overhead. You'll often see them half-buried and camouflaged in the sand fingers between the coral tongues of the reef. Like this one was on Newman's Wall before I annoyed him. The routine for Coco View was a boat dive followed by a drop-off dive on one of the walls near the resort. This allowed for a lot of bottom time. This was our fourth dive of this day and we were in the water before 4 p.m. |
