Belize: Ambergris Caye to Placencia

Southern Stingray at Esmarelda reef

Esmarelda was our last dive off Ambergris Caye, before moving on to Placencia. And there were only the three of us -- Brad, the divemaster, Ruben, and myself -- on this dive.

The reef begins in about 40 feet of water and works deeper via a series of ravines and canyons -- very beautiful.

We found this wary southern stingray laying in one of the many sand channels. This monster was probably four feet across.
